• Found Poem

We buried her three days ago
A little life with dried tubers
On the seventh day the child died
The house is so quiet now
    But where is Sonia?

Dream that my little baby came to life again
And that we rubbed it before the fire
And it lived. Awake and find no baby
Why should I fast? Because God so loved the world,
I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.

  • Cat Poem

When he is born he is like a crystal glass
    Immaculate and shining
With the breath of God animating his
Immortal soul rendered unto me and
He fits within my hand, one hand, his body
    Easily deformed like wet clay
Distillate love within his ceramic form
The container will break within a decade
Or two and because God so loved the world
We will meet again some day in better vessels.

  • 1980s Girl

1980s girl wake up on Douglas and,
Turn red plastic bathroom radio on
You don’t tease your hair, too conscientious
Not to have it permed, you spray it hard
You paint your bedroom green while
She is at work, your mother
In glossy chocolate square toed heels
In the living room you have a quick
    Cigarette inside
Radio still playing upstairs, you forgot it on,
    Immortal 1980s girl

  • My Little Boy

I paid for you because I wanted you
And you were born into a world where I can buy your body
And own you forever. I regret that
But I don’t regret buying you
    My little boy.

    You were, cloud-like, trembling
My pink bald hand encircling your tiny form
Lifting you to my lips to kiss,
    Irresistibly
    You were my little boy.

With blue eyes, still learning to be alone in this world
You cried for me like I was your mother
Happy to be deputized as such but at the same time not
    Your mother
I really am sorry about this.

You were so young when you became mine
When you are old I will still be young
When you are dead I will still be young
But you will always and forever be
    My little boy.
